Denmark – Workshop: Safe management of chemicals in the workplace

Join us to hear more about new rules and possibilities

This workshop is primarily aimed at Danish companies managing chemicals and thereby being affected by Danish and EU regulations on working environment and chemicals.

The Danish Working Environment Authority will present the new Danish requirements for assessment, education and instructions in the workplace, which entered into force 1 July 2019. The National Research Centre for Working Environment (NRCWE/NFA) will thereafter talk about how various methods and tools can be used for chemical risk assessment. This will be followed by a discussion about how companies can comply with the new requirements. This part of the programme will be in Danish.

Thereafter, the participants will be given the opportunity to participate in a free crash-course in the use of the chemicals risk assessment and management software tool Stoffenmanager®.

The new Danish requirements for chemicals risk assessment, training and instructions

Linda Nielsen Schuleit, Danish Working Environment Authority

On July 1, 2019, the requirement to prepare written workplace data sheets was lifted. At the same time, however, increased focus has been placed on conducting a chemical risk assessment for processes where employees can be exposed to chemicals, as well as how the results of the risk assessment are translated into training and instructions.

Strategy and tools for assessing the risk of chemicals exposures in the working environment

Professor Keld Alstrup Jensen, NRCWE/NFA
Use of models and tools are needed to support chemical risk assessments in companies. Several tools exist with different levels of complexity. Moreover, assessments of chemicals and materials with limited information (e.g., nanomaterials) often requires and alternative approach. Hence, a strategy for choosing adequate methods for risk assessment is needed.
