Chemical safety becomes a business case

At the 1st European Exposure Science Strategy Workshop some 125 participants from government, industry, consultancy, contract research organisations, academia and insurance companies spent two days discussing six thematic areas outlined below. The goal was to set priorities.

In shared Facts & Trends it became clear that exposure science is hot:

  • Exposure information is on the radar of CEOs.
  • Critical that exposure science becomes fully integrated (core business) from R&D to risk management.

Both Cosanta and IFA – as a representative of the Stoffenmanager® International Scientific Advisory Board – gave input in 3 parallel sessions. In the Regulatory Exposure Assessment Science session we advocated both aligning and managing expectations between REACH and Occupational Health and Safety Legislation more clearly. The next step is for the ISES Board to draft a European Exposure Science Strategy roadmap 2020-2025-2030. We’ll keep you posted!
