Assess: Understanding exposure – The key to targeted action

Published on
2 min

A safe and healthy working environment is essential for every employee. Once your organization has identified which hazardous substances are present in the workplace, the next step is to assess the extent to which employees are exposed to them. That’s why risk assessment is a crucial step in safely managing hazardous substances.

World Asthma Day, a global awareness day for asthma and lung health, is a fitting moment to take a closer look at the second step in the Labour Inspectorate’s four-step plan: Assess.

Why a risk assessment is indispensable

An inventory shows which hazardous substances are present, but a risk assessment reveals the extent of employee exposure. In other words, what is the level of exposure in the workplace?

With Stoffenmanager®, you can carry out a risk assessment quickly and easily. By answering questions about the work situation, such as the type of activities, ventilation, workspace, and duration of exposure, you gain immediate insight into the risks.

Stoffenmanager® automatically calculates the exposure for each hazardous component and compares it to legal limit values. Is the exposure too high? Then the result is shown in red. This way, you can instantly see whether a situation is under control or if action is required.

Protecting employees as best as possible from hazardous substances—that's what we do it for!
